Learn about our Governors
This page gives people more of an opportunity to learn more about our Governors, who they are, how long they have been a governor and some general background information.
Gemma Holmes (Chair of Governors)
I work for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and have done for the last 14 years - I have knowledge in HR, creating various statistical reports and data and some areas of finance. I have 2 daughters both currently in KS2 at St Helen's Primary School and I have been a governor here, since my eldest daughter (now in Year 5) started Reception.
Cyril Barrett (Vice Chair of Governors)
On leaving school I trained as an Accountant with a local Company in St Helens and had the opportunity to work in several different countries as well as travel extensively in Europe. Later in my career I was the Bursar at Chethams School of Music, worked for a training company in Liverpool and then ran a Health and Safety Company for 6 years. I finished my working life as the CEO of the Institute of Safety and Health in Leicester. I have been a Director of LDST for 4 years and have a specific interest in Governance.
Mark Walker (Safeguarding Governor)
All of my children have attended St Helen's Primary school. My youngest child is currently in Year 5 with my two older children now being at Culcheth High School. Education has been a constant in my life having grown up with both parents and grandparents involved in education as teachers. As a senior leader within my church I have an extensive understanding on a range of areas that overlap with the governor role.
