St. Helen's C.E. Primary School

Design and Technology

At St Helens CE Primary School, our Design and Technology curriculum empowers children to become creative problem solvers and innovative thinkers, equipped to shape the future. Aligned with our school's vision of nurturing every child to achieve their full potential, this subject fosters curiosity, resilience, and a sense of accomplishment. Children learn essential skills like designing, making, and evaluating, while working with a range of materials and tools.

Through hands-on activities, pupils explore real-world challenges, from building structures to designing functional products. Our knowledge-rich, progressive curriculum emphasizes creativity, technical understanding, and teamwork, promoting confidence and critical thinking. By encouraging collaboration and inclusivity, children gain the skills to thrive in a diverse and ever-changing world, in line with our commitment to equality and diversity.

At the heart of our approach are our Christian values, providing love and support as pupils learn to tackle challenges with care for others and respect for the environment. Our goal is to inspire inquisitive learners who, through Design and Technology, develop the confidence to make positive contributions to society and face the future with optimism and resourcefulness.
