Uniform Information
School Uniform
Uniform is an important part of a school’s identity. It reinforces who we are as a community and helps allow children to feel pride in their school. It also helps prepare children for life after primary school, where students will also have to follow a secondary school’s stringent uniform code.
For the School Day
Grey trousers/shorts / grey skirt / grey pinafore
Pale blue shirt / pale blue blouse / pale blue polo shirt
Royal blue school sweatshirt / cardigan
Grey socks / white socks / grey tights
Optional blue coat/outdoor fleece
Book bag
Alternative Summer Wear -Blue and white gingham dress or skirt
Sensible black shoes (not trainers or boots)
Children coming to school in footwear other than sensible black shoes will be provided with a pair of black school pumps to wear throughout the day. If children choose to wear boots during bad weather while travelling to and from school, sensible black shoes must be worn when in school.
Children will be coming into school each day in their uniform and getting changed for PE in school. Therefore, we ask that children bring a PE bag with their school PE kit to put on their coat peg. Please make sure all items are clearly labelled.
For Physical Education
Navy blue shorts or navy-blue P.E. skirt.
Yellow T- shirt.
Trainers for indoor P.E. and outside games.
In the colder months, children may wish to wear navy/black leggings or tracksuit bottoms.
Additional Information
• Children with longer than shoulder length hair, or those with long fringes, must have it tied back. This is for health and hygiene reasons. Children may wear plain and sensible sized bows in their hair. All hair bands must be a plain band and not have decorative elements. Hair braids are actively discouraged.
• Children must not wear any jewellery to school, apart from simple studs as earrings. They must be able to take them out for P.E. and swimming. If your child has recently had their ears pierced, please let us know. Watches (not smart watches) may be worn but must be clearly marked with your child’s name.
• Children must not wear nail varnish to school.
We ask that children bring only a reading book bag to school instead of a backpack. Storage space in classrooms is limited and we find it very difficult to store backpacks on coat pegs along with jackets, pe kits and packed lunches.
If you have any questions about the guidance, please do not hesitate to contact school. If you are unsure whether a piece of uniform is acceptable, please consult the school before buying. If there are any extenuating circumstances, which mean you are unable to meet the uniform requirements, please email the office: StHelensPrimary@ldst.org.uk
We look forward to your support in ensuring all children are treated equally and trust the information above makes things much clearer for everyone.
